May 24 (SeeNews) - Austrian insurance group UNIQA said on Wednesday its pre-tax profit in Serbia fell to 300,000 euro ($335,367) in the first quarter of 2017 from 400,000 euro in the respective period of last year.
Total gross written premiums from operations in Serbia declined by 5% on the year to 10.9 million euro, UNIQA said in its financial report for the first quarter of 2017.
Gross written premiums in the non-life insurance segment in Serbia came in at 6.2 million euro, down 2%. Gross written premiums from life insurance went down 7% to 3.5 million euro, while those in the health segment declined by 16% to 1.2 million euro.
In Southeastern Europe (SEE), UNIQA operates in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia and Croatia. Its premiums written in the region - excluding Romania - fell by 3.4% on the year to 56 million euro in the first quarter of 2017.
