November 19 (SeeNews) - The Minister of State for Food Security of United Arab Emirates (UAE), Mariam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Al Mehairi, said on Monday that her government is interested in imports of beef and mutton from Serbia, the trade ministry in Belgrade announced.
The UAE hopes that the certification process of Serbian meat will be completed as soon as possible so that the import of food from the country will take place smoothly, Al Mehairi said, according to a press release issued by Serbia's trade ministry.
A large business delegation from the UAE will visit Serbia in April next year to discuss steps for boosting trade between the two countries and the launch of new UAE investments in Serbia, Al Mehairi said during a meeting with Serbian trade minister Rasim Ljajic.
In September, Serbia resumed exports of beef to China after a 30-year pause. The country produced a total of 77,000 tonnes of beef in 2016, according to local media reports.
