September 19 (SeeNews) - Turkish power producer Zorlu Enerji [BIST:ZOREN] said Thursday it has marked the start of operation of its 56.4 megawatt (MW) wind farm in Pakistan with a ceremony in Istanbul.
Zorlu Enerji said in a statement that it had invested $151 million (111 million euro) in the wind farm which started generating power in July.
The facility, installed by Zorlu Enerji's unit Zorlu Enerji Pakistan Ltd, will generate 159 million kWh of power per year. It will supply with power 350,000 households for 20 years, according to the statement. The capacity of the wind farm can be expanded to 300 megawatts.
The ceremony, held on Wednesday, was attended by Pakistani government officials.
