March 18 (SeeNews) - The Bulgarian Stock Exchange blue-chip SOFIX index fell 1.42% to 416.39 points on Wednesday, marking its fifth consecutive losing session.
Lender Central Cooperative Bank (CCB) [BUL:4CF] was the top decliner among blue chips on Wednesday, losing 10.59% to a closing price of 0.76 levs.
Resort operator Albena [BUL:6AB] and diversified group Doverie United Holding [BUL:5DOV] followed with decreases of 5.66% and 4.91%, respectively.
The only gainers among blue chips on Wednesday were drug maker Sopharma [BUL:3JR] and software developer Sirma Group Holding [BUL:SKK], which added 3.88% and 1.65%, respectively.
Earlier on Wednesday, Sirma Group Holding said that its business is not affected by the current restrictions on the movement of people, as its activities are well suited for remote work.
In addition, the company said that the outbreak does not threaten any of its current projects and activities. However, if the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic leads to a global economic crisis, this could severely reduce projects and sales, the company noted.
The wider BGBX40 index, which tracks the 40 most traded shares on the Sofia bourse, dropped 1.10% to 87.25 points, while the BGTR30 index, in which companies with a free float of at least 10% have equal weight, fell 1.61% to 418.37 points.
The BGREIT index, which tracks real estate investment trusts, slid 0.46% to 126.80 points.
Total regulated market trading turnover remained high, and amounted to 1.3 million levs on Wednesday.
