October 26 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's October seasonally-adjusted economic sentiment index dropped by two percentage points from a month earlier, mainly due to a decrease in the consumer confidence indicator, the Statistics Office said on Monday.
The October index was 13 percentage points lower than a year earlier and 23 percentage points below the long-term average, the statistics office said in a statement. Slovenia started measuring economic sentiment in January 2000.
The seasonally-adjusted services confidence indicator increased by eight percentage points in October from a month earlier. It was 31 percentage points down from October 2008 and 34 points below the long-term average.
The seasonally-adjusted value of the manufacturing sector confidence indicator increased by two percentage points from September. It was tree percentage points down from October 2008 and 16 points below the long-term average.
Following an eight percentage points increase in September, the consumer confidence indicator fell by 10 percentage points in October. The decrease was mainly due to more pessimistic outlook of consumers about the general economic situation over the next 12 months. The consumer confidence indicator was six percentage points below last year’s average and eight percentage points down from a year earlier.
The October seasonally-adjusted retail trade confidence indicator dropped by one percentage point from a month earlier. It was down by 34 percentage points from October 2008 and 24 points below the long-term average.
The October confidence indicator in the construction sector remained flat compared to the previous month but was 50 percentage points lower than a year earlier. It was 53 percentage points lower than the long-term average.
