January 26 (SeeNews) - Slovenia's net electricity production increased by 55% month-on-month to 1,197 GWh in December, the statistical office said.
In annual terms, the country's power output was down 5%, the office of statistics said in a statement on Wednesday, citing provisional data.
The December output of the country's hydropower plants went up 30% monthly and 27% yearly to 378 GWh.
The output of the thermal power plants in Slovenia totalled 294 GWh in December, down 30% on the year and up 165% month-on-month, while Slovenia's sole nuclear power plant, Krsko, produced 520 GWh of electricity last month, up 45% on the month and 1% on the year.
In December, Slovenia imported 915 GWh of electricity and exported 838 GWh. Imports fell 12% compared to the previous month, while exports increased 29%.
On an annual comparison basis, imports went up 16% and exports grew 22%.
Nuclear energy had the largest share of 43.4% in Slovenia's total power production in December, followed by hydro energy with 31.5%, thermal with 24.6%, and solar and wind power with 0.5%.
