November 2 (SeeNews) - Slovenian stock indices gained ground in higher turnover on Friday with most blue chips rising in value, brokers said.
The broader 15-share SBI20 index of the Ljubljana Stock Exchange (LJSE) gained 0.94% and finished at 11,779.16 points. The blue-chip index SBITOP went up 0.91% to 2,574.00 points.
Wednesday and Thursday were public and market holidays in Slovenia.
Heavyweight blue-chip drug maker Krka had the highest turnover, of 3.074 million euro ($4.452 million), on Friday. Its shares gained 0.02% to an average price of 115.80 euro. The company is expected to publish its nine-month financial results next week.
Majority state-owned Telekom Slovenije was the biggest gainer among the blue chips on Friday, rising 2.39% to 432.78 euro. Last week the Economy Ministry said it had shortlisted seven candidates for the second round of the sale of 49.13% of Telekom Slovenije. The potential buyers have to submit their binding bids by December 18.
Brokers have said Krka's nine-month results and further news on the sale of the 49.13% stake in Telekom Slovenije can move the market.
Blue-chip fuel trader Petrol was another key stock on Friday, local brokerage house Ilirika said in a daily note. Petrol added 0.95% to 969.14 euro. Last week Petrol raised its takeover bid for energy-to-tourism holding firm Istrabenz to 110 euro per share from 100 euro offered earlier.
The new bid is valid until November 19.
Blue chip Istrabenz lost 0.31% to 111.95 euro on Friday.
Gaining stocks among the blue chips outnumbered losers by eight to two. Total turnover on the LJSE rose to 9.35 million euro on Friday from 3.52 million euro on Tuesday.
