November 1 (SeeNews) - Slovenia has recorded the second-largest decline in average household electricity prices in the EU in the first half of 2022, Eurostat said.
Despite the general rise in prices across the EU, the average household electricity cost in Slovenia declined by 16% year-on-year in the first half of 2022 due to government subsidies and allowances, Eurostat said in a statement on Monday.
On the other hand, gas prices in Slovenia grew 26.3% year-on-year in the period under review, Eurostat said.
In the first half of 2022, average household electricity prices in the EU increased sharply compared with the same period in 2021, to 25.3 euro ($25.1) from 22.0 euro per 100 kWh. Average gas prices also increased, to 8.6 euro from 6.4 euro per 100 kWh.
The largest increase in household electricity prices was recorded in the Czech Republic, up 62%, while the biggest decline, of 54%, was registered in the Netherlands.
