LJUBLJANA (Slovenia), September 11 (SeeNews) – Slovenia's government has reduced the mandatory quarantine period for people coming from abroad without a negative PCR test to 10 days from 14, it said.
The government has also extended the validity of the negative PCR test to 48 hours from 36 but will no longer accept tests made in Slovenia for citizens wishing to enter the country, it said in a statement on Thursday.
The reduction of the obligatory quarantine period is the result of a data analysis showing that most patients show COVID-19 symptoms seven days from the day of infection on average, the director of the University Clinic of Pulmonary and Allergic Diseases Golnik, Ales Rozman, explained in the statement.
Slovenia reported a record-high 77 new coronavirus cases on Wednesday, government spokesman Jelko Kacin told a news conference on Thursday.
