October 25 (SeeNews) - The share of Serbian households with access to the internet rose to 83.2% at the end of February, up by 1.7 percentage points (pp) on the year, a survey by the national office for statistics showed.
As many as 84.9% of Serbian businesses have a website, while 28%, up by 0.9 pp on the year, make their products or services available to customers via the internet, a report published last week by the national office for statistics shows.
The survey was conducted from February 15 until February 28 among 2,537 households. Within the same survey, 1,559 businesses were polled from March 15 to March 31.
Around 81% of the total number of internet users have an account on a social media network, the survey showed.
A total of 47.8% of all participants said they had bought or ordered something in the three months prior to the study. Most, 72%, purchased clothes, followed by 30% who bought sports equipment, and 15% who bought furniture and household appliances.
Serbia, with a population of around 7 million, has two main broadband providers - Telekom Srbija and Serbia Broadband (SBB).
Telekom Srbija had a 53.9% share of the overall number of fixed broadband subscribers at the end the third quarter of 2022, followed by SBB with 31.3%, according to data from the country's telecommunications regulator.
