May 26 (SeeNews) - Serbia’s autonomous province of Vojvodina said it has signed a contract for the preparation of technical documentation for the construction of a new facility within the Science and Technology Park Novi Sad worth 59 million euro ($63.4 million).
“I expect that in the second half of next year we can start the construction of Science and Technology Park 2,” the head of the local government, Igor Mirovic, said, as quoted in a press release on Thursday.
“Next year, we also expect support from the Serbian government for financing the construction of the facility, with the aim of helping new development companies, new startups and all the technical sciences faculties in the sphere of artificial intelligence and information technology,” added Mirovic.
The project envisages the construction of a building consisting of two separate functional units spanning a total of 30,000 square meters.
Elsewhere in the country, Serbia will begin construction of the Bio 4 tech park in the capital Belgrade by the end of the year.
Serbia also plans to expand the capacities of its tech parks in Belgrade, Novi Sad and Nis, and start the construction of a tech park in Krusevac later this year.
