January 28 (SeeNews) - Serbia's AIK Banka plans to launch a takeover bid for Slovenian lender Gorenjska Banka, Ljubljana-based media reported.
AIK Banka, owned by Serbian entrepreneur Miodrag Kostic, has applied for the launch of the takeover bid with Slovenia's competition watchdog and securities market commission, daily Delo said on Friday.

The Serbian lender will officially announce the launch of the takeover bid within 30 days, Delo said.
The ban on the launch of a takeover for Gorenjska Banka by AIK Banka expired on January 22. The prohibition was imposed by the Slovenian authorities last year, as AIK Banka failed to launch a takeover bid for Gorenjska Banka at the end of 2017.
AIK Banka currently holds a 33% stake in Gorenjska Banka - Slovenia’s seventh largest bank in terms of assets, with a market stake of 4.7%.
