BELGRADE (Serbia), June 28 (SeeNews) – Serbian food producer Swisslion-Takovo on Monday opened a 4.7 million euro ($5.8 million) ready meals factory, Belgrade-based media reported.
The factory, located in Gornji Milanovac where the company is based, will employ 77 people, news provider EMportal (www.emportal.rs) quoted the factory’s technical director, Miroslav Jovicic, as saying.
Serbian citizens buy 17,500 tonnes of ready meals annually, half of which are made locally, EMportal said.
“We want to cut imports by 4,500 tonnes, which will be the factory’s annual output,” EMportal quoted Jovicic as saying.
The factory’s output will be 24 tonnes per day with plans to boost production to 35 tonnes per day, Jovicic said.
Serbia's Swisslion bought 70% of Takovo for 3.0 million euro from the country's government in 2004. It now controls a stake of 90%, figures from Serbia’s Central Securities Depository showed.
