March 28 (SeeNews) - Serbia's prime minister Aleksandar Vucic has said the country expects to receive six MiG-29 fighter aircraft from Russia in the coming weeks, according to a video file posted on the government's website on Monday.
Only technical issues regarding the delivery of the planes remain to be solved, namely whether the aircraft will fly over foreign countries or will be transported in parts, Vucic said on the sidelines of a meeting with Russia's president Vladimir Putin in Moscow.
"I expect the respective decree to be signed soon so that the planes could arrive to Serbia as soon as possible," Vucic said.
The Russian president has personally approved the delivery of 30 armoured vehicles, 30 T32 tanks and six MiG-29 jets to Serbia, Vucic added.
In addition, Serbia expects more investments of Russian companies in its economy as the country has already repaid its entire debt to Gazprom and now discusses concrete steps of cooperation.
During the meeting, Vucic and Putin discussed the operations of Russian state railways company RZD and Serbian gas and oil company NIS [BEL:NIIS], in which Russia's Gazprom Neft owns a 56.15% stake, the Serbian government said.
RZD International, the engineering subsidiary of RZD, carries out railway capacity overhaul works in Serbia, financed with the proceeds from a $800 million (736.6 million euro) loan extended by Russia to state-run railway operator Zeleznice Srbije in January 2013.
In December, the government in Belgrade said Russia had agreed to donate six MiG-29 fighter jets to Serbia's Air Force. Russia had also agreed to extend to 14 years the service life of the Serbian Air Force fleet of MiG-29s, including the donated aircraft.
