- Serbian car battery producer FAS plans to raise its 2009 turnover by 37.8% to 45 million euro, the company's director general Radovan Mijailovic said. The company produced 140,000 car batteries in September, 100,000 were exported, Mijailovic. FAS received an order for180,000 car batteries for October. FAS, which exports to former Yugoslav republics and African countries, has invested about 15 million euro in the factory in Sombor, in northern Serbia, since the company was privatised three years ago.
- The output of Serbia’s confectionery industry fell by 10.7% on the year during the first seven months of 2009, Serbia’s Association of Confectionery Producers said. The industry’s sales dropped by 19% to 55,700 tonnes on the year. Chocolate products posted the biggest fall. Imports of confectionery items are falling so the industry posted a surplus of $28.4 million, which is a 16% increase compared to the same period last year. Local confectionery producers hold 81% of the local market.
- Serbia’s Meridijan Banka, based in the northern town of Novi Sad and part of French Credit Agricole, has changed its name to Credy Agricole Serbia.

- Serbia’s flag carrier JAT Airways may launch a regular route to Slovenia’s resort of Portoroz on the Adriatic coat, JAT Director General Srdjan Radovanovic said.
