March 13 (SeeNews) - Serbia has agreed on the text of a preferential trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the country's trade minister Rasim Ljajic said.
"A modern text of the Free Trade Agreement was agreed, which is in line with the rules of the World Trade Organization and the principles of modern trade," Ljajic said, as quoted in a statement by the trade ministry on Tuesday.
The agreement will regulate Serbia's trade relations with Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, as the country has already signed free trade agreements with Russia, Belarus, and Kazakhstan, Ljajic said.
"Our producers will be able to export unlimited amounts of all kinds of fruit brandy, as well as all kinds of sheep and goat cheese. In addition, we also received a 2,000-tonne quota for the export of cigarettes, as well as a quota of 87,500 litres of grape brandy and 400 tonnes of semi-hard and hard cow cheese," Ljajic added.
Last month, Ljajic said he hopes the EAEU will approve a preferential trade agreement with the country at the end of April.
The EAEU is a political and economic union of states in central and northern Eurasia and members of the former Soviet Union, namely Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan. The Eurasian Economic Union represents an integrated single market of 183 million people.
