October 1 (SeeNews) - Majority state-owned Romanian gas transmission company Transgaz [BSE:TGN] said on Tuesday that it has inaugurated the Jupa gas compressor station, part of the first stage of the BRUA gas pipeline project.
The value of construction works at the Jupa gas compressor station totalled 103.56 million lei ($23.7 million/21.8 million euro), while the 2 compressor units installed at the station are worth a further 12.6 million euro, Transgaz said in a bourse filing.
The Jupa compressor station includes two 4.6 MW gas compressor units manufactured by U.S.-based Solar Turbines.
Under the first phase of the BRUA 1 project, a total of 560 million euros will be invested in the construction of a new gas pipeline, which will have a total length of 550 km and a maximum capacity of 1.5 billion cubic meters per year to Bulgaria and 4.4 billion cubic meters per year to Hungary.
In May, Transgaz said it has obtained the right to start the works for construction of a pipeline linking the country's Black Sea shore to the national transmission system and BRUA - the pipeline running from Bulgaria to Romania, Hungary and Austria.
