Romania's energy output rose by 1.4% year-on-year in the first seven months of 2018, the statistical office, INS, said on Tuesday.
Romania's January-July energy production totalled 12.2 million tonnes of oil equivalent (TOE), INS said in a statement. Energy imports amounted to 1.46 million TOE, up 11% on the year.
Romania's electricity output and imports totalled 39.4 TWh in the first seven months of 2018, down by 0.1% on the year.
In January-July, thermal power plants generated some 14.8 TWh of electricity, down by 8.6% on the year, while the output of hydro power plants rose by 28.8% to 11.9 TWh.
The production of the country's sole nuclear power plant fell by 1.2% on the year to some 6.41 TWh in the review period.
Wind farms generated 3.83 TWh, down by 10.4%, and solar plants produced 1 TWh, 17.4% lower on the year, in the first five months of 2018.
Final electricity consumption rose by an annual 2.1% to 32.4 TWh during the period under review.
Romania’s electricity exports fell by 16.3% year-on-year to 3.48 TWh through July.
The country produced 1.95 million TOE of crude oil, down 2.7% on the year, and 2.38 million TOE of coal, up 10.8%, in the first seven months of 2018. Natural gas production rose % year-on-year, reaching 4.85 million TOE.
In 2017, Romania's energy production rose by 4% to 21.30 million TOE.
A TOE is the rounded-off amount of energy that would be produced by burning one metric tonne of crude oil.
