BUCHAREST (Romania), October 19 (SeeNews) – Romanian state-owned hydropower generator and supplier Hidroelectrica plans to invest 1.9 billion euro ($2.8 billion) until 2025 in new production units, Bucharest-based news agency Mediafax reported on Monday.
The company intends to increase the utilisation ratio of the hydropower potential to 64.78%, from the current 53.83%, Mediafax reported quoting company officials.
Hidroelectrica plans to raise its annual power output to 20.86 terrawatt hours (TWh) by 2025 from 17.33 TWh now, Mediafax (www.mediafax.ro) said.
Hiroelectrica has planned investments worth 300 million euro per year, out of which 40% in rehabilitation, Mediafax quoted the company’s exploitation manager Dragos Zachia as saying.
Romania’s annual hydropower potential is around 32.2 TWh. Hidroelectrica covered 26.4% of Romania’s electricity consumption last year, the agency said.
