January 12 (SeeNews) - Romania’s consumer prices rose by 6.6% on the year in December, following a 6.7% annual increase in November, the statistical office, INS, said on Friday.
The average annual inflation rate in 2023 was 10.4%, INS said in a data release.
In 2022, the average annual inflation was 13.8%, INS said earlier.
Food prices jumped by 14.89% year-on-year in 2023, while non-food prices increased by 7.08%. The price of services grew by 11.25%.
In December, Romania's consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.26% compared to the previous month, with service prices rising by 0.7%, non-food prices decreasing by 0.09%, and food prices edging up by 0.29%.
In November, Romania's central bank decided to keep its policy rate unchanged at 7%.
