October 15 (SeeNews) - Romanian water utility Apavil intends using the proceeds of a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to finance the construction of four hydropower plants in a bid to boost its energy efficiency.
The proposed project, which has a total estimated cost of 5.3 million euro ($6.1 million) equivalent, will require the procurement of the following works: construction of Stan Valley, Vladesti Valley and Ramicul Valcea hydro power plants, comprising a total of four units, the EBRD said in a procurement notice posted on its website on Wednesday.
Tendering for the above contracts is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2015.
This is a reactivation of a previous general procurement notice that was published in February 2013 and concerns only the second tranche of the loan, the one funded by the Green Energy Special Fund (GESF), administered by the EBRD, the bank added.
Apavil is the regional water utility in Romaina's southwestern county of Valcea.
