March 20 (SeeNews) - Romania has confirmed a total of 308 coronavirus cases as of Friday, compared to 277 a day earlier, data from the National Institute of Public Health, INSP, shows.

Thirty-one of those 277 people have been cured and discharged from hospital, according to health ministry data.

As of Friday, 4,044 people are in quarantine in Romania, while the condition of 245,432 people staying at home is being monitored.

INSP has stopped providing data regarding the spread of the virus in Romania's 41 counties.

On Tuesday evening, the interior ministry announced that restaurants and bars will suspend operations, with the possibility of some of them to continue home delivery to clients. Other places such as gyms or beauty saloons also need to close.

The Romanian authorities on Monday declared a 30-day state of emergency in order to be able to tackle the coronavirus disease outbreak more efficiently.

During the last two weeks, Romania closed public and private schools, banned all flights to and from Italy until March 23 and prohibited the gatherings of over 1,000 people until March 31 to curb the spread of the virus.
