ZIARUL FINANCIAR
- The operations of Romanian leasing companies were seriously hurt last year by dropping car sales and a wave of frauds, leading to 150 million euro in losses on the market in 2008 compared to a 34 million euro loss in 2007, data from the Finance Ministry showed.
- Czech power firm CEZ expects the government in Bucharest to allow foreign investors to hold bigger stakes in the two generating units of Romania's Cernavoda nuclear power plant it plans to build, the daily quoted local news agency Mediafax as reporting.
- One of Romania's largest wine producers, Cramele Recas, sees its turnover rising 10% to 13.6 million euro this year with exports mainly supporting the rise, the company's director general Rares Marinescu said.

- The visa denial rate for Romanian citizens, who want to travel to the United States, has decreased to 25% from 37%, but the country still has to meet a series of technical conditions in order to be included in the Visa Waiver programme, which allows citizens to travel visa-free to the United States for up to 90 days, Romania's ambassador to the United States, Adrian Cosmin Vierita, said.

- New passenger car registrations in France under the brand of Romanian carmaker Dacia, owned by Renault, rose by 77.2% on the year in August, the highest growth rate on the French car market, data of the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA) showed.
