ZIARUL FINANCIAR
- The Romanian unit of Greece's Alpha Bank will borrow 50 million euro from the European Investment Bank for on-lending to small- and medium-sized enterprises, Alpha Bank Romania executive president Sergiu Oprescu said.
MEDIAFAX
- Romania's top oil and gas group OMV Petrom is considering a share capital increase to support investments and hopes the country's new government will participate in the hike, company's CEO Mariana Gheorghe said. Austria's OMV owns 51% of the group, while the Romanian Economy Ministry and restitution fund Fondul Proprietatea hold 20.64% and 20.11%, respectively. The remaining 8.24% stake is traded on the Bucharest bourse.
- Romania has reported 29 swine flu-related deaths by Thursday, the Health Ministry said. It also confirmed 4,979 infections with the A/H1N1 virus by Thursday with 94 new cases registered in the last 24 hours.

- U.S. Ford said all the departments of its Romanian unit, based in the southwestern town of Craiova, will become operational at the end of March, when the factory will start producing the Transit Connect model. The company has been working on the infrastructure required to put out 300,000 cars, head of Ford Romania Dionisio Campos said.
