February 9 (SeeNews) - PayPoint Services Romania said on Wednesday it is acquiring 24pay, a digital payment solution for public transport developed by local technology company PTP Online.
Through the acquisition, PayPoint is complementing its portfolio of services and diversifying the range of its digital solutions, it said in a press release.

"We know that time is a priority for most consumers, and mobile payments offer comfort and security. Therefore, we are very pleased to be able to offer, along with 24pay, fast payment services for public transport, which maintain the quality and security standards that PayPoint customers have been enjoying for over 14 years," PayPoint Services Romania CEO Utku Ogrendil said.
The 24pay application will be complemented with new services, such as the payment of bills, parking and railway tickets.
Launched in 2018, the 24pay application has over 730,000 downloads from app stores. The application is available in 13 cities: Bucharest, Iasi, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Brasov, Arad, Ramnicu Valcea, Sibiu, Targu Jiu, Piatra Neamt, Sacele, Resita and Ploiesti.
PayPoint Romania services are available in approximately 19,000 locations across the country.
PayPoint Romania used to be part of UK-based payment solutions provider PayPoint. In October 2020, PayPoint UK reached an agreement with Innova Capital for the sale of its Romanian business for some 47 million British pounds ($64 million/ 56 million euro).
