BUCHAREST (Romania), November 28 (SeeNews) – Warsaw-listed hotel group Orbis, the strategic partner of AccorHotels in Eastern Europe, said on Wednesday it has signed a management contract for a new ibis brand hotel in Romania's capital Bucharest.
The newly-built ibis Politehnica Hotel in Bucharest, expected to be opened in the third quarter of 2020, will be developed in partnership with Romanian owner and investor - Novum Business Services, and will be managed by Orbis, the group said in a press release.
Ibis is the economy brand of AccorHotels.
"With the opening of ibis Bucharest Politehnica we are further developing the existing AccorHotels portfolio, consisting of 11 properties currently in Romania, having a strong pipeline for the years to come in the capital, as well as in key regional cities across the country ," Orbis & AccorHotels Eastern Europe head of development, Frank Reul, said.
The newly-built hotel will be located in the center-west part of the capital. It will have 160 rooms, a restaurant, a bar, conference facilities and a parking site.
In October, Orbis announced it is going to open another ibis brand hotel in Bucharest, within walking distance from the Athenaeum, the Royal Palace, the National Opera House and the main train station Gara de Nord.
Orbis comprises 129 hotels and is the sole licensor of all AccorHotels brands in 16 countries including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia. It offers a total of 21,000 rooms.
The hotels operate under the brand names Sofitel, Pullman, M Gallery, Novotel, Mercure, ibis, ibis Styles and ibis budget.
