April 28 (SeeNews) - Tunisia-based producer and wholesaler of fruit, vegetables and meat RioFresh Group said on Friday it has launched new agricultural production activities in Montenegro, aiming to strengthen its operations in North Africa and to open new channels to reach clients in Europe and the United States.
"Our new operations in Montenegro consist of 40 ha of surface, including 20 ha irrigated with a pivot system, dedicated to the production of alfalfa, onions, potatoes, watermelon, melon, or other fruits and vegetables depending on demand. The rest is covered with 21 greenhouses dedicated to the production of strawberries," said RioFresh CEO, Fatma Zramdini.
RioFresh Group is headquartered in Tunisia and has a branch in Morocco. The company has supplied products from its farms in Tunisia and Morocco to hypermarket and restaurant chains in Kuwait, Qatar, UAE, and Saudi Arabia for 10 years.
"This is still a recent but promising investment, for which we are open to firm partnerships with Montenegrin actors," Zramdini said, adding that in Montenegro they will work with local hypermarkets and supermarkets such as Voli, Lakovic, and Aroma.
The CEO noted that Montenegro has enormous potential that is still under-exploited, with the country also benefitting from cultural and geographical proximity to the customers RioFresh is targeting in Europe.
