May 6 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's trade deficit rose to a total of 55.19 billion denars ($946 million/895 million euro) in the first three months of the year, from 32.5 billion denars in the same period of 2021, the country's statistical office said on Friday.
Exports increased 16.8% on the year to 119.6 billion denars in the January-March period, while imports grew 29.4% to 174.8 billion denars, Makstat said in a statement.
North Macedonia's exports mainly consisted of supported catalysts with precious metal or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets used in motor vehicles, aircraft or ships, and ferronickel.
The country predominantly imported electricity, petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous mineral and metals of the platinum group and alloys.
North Macedonia's main trading partners in the January-March period were Germany, the UK, Greece, Bulgaria and Serbia.
