SKOPJE (North Macedonia), September 25 (SeeNews) – North Macedonia's gross electricity production rose by an annual 35% to 525,685 MWh in July, the national statistical office said on Wednesday, citing preliminary data.
Net electricity output in July also increased - by 36%, to 497,177 MWh, Makstat said in a statement.
Thermal power plants contributed the largest portion of gross domestic electricity production, generating 250,088 MWh, 19% more than in July 2018.
Combined heat and power plants generated 161,450 MWh in July. No electricity output was registered by combined heat and power plants in July last year.
Hydro power plants followed with 97,992 MWh, down 38% compared to July 2018.
Electricity generated by wind parks fell by 28% year-on-year to 8,825 MWh, while biogas plants’ output rose 18% to 4,595 MWh. Solar parks produced 2,734 MWh of electricity, up 3.8% on the year.
North Macedonia’s electricity imports fell by an annual 25% to 154,613 MWh in July. Electricity exports increased by 186% to 127,782 MWh in July.
Distribution losses edged down 0.5% on the year to 47,706 MWh in July.
