November 6 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's DS Smith Skopje, a unit of British packaging manufacturer DS Smith, said that it turned to a net loss of 144.2 million denars ($2.5 million/2.3 million euro) in the first nine months of 2023 after generating a 45.7 million denars net profit in the like period the year before.
Operating expenses fell 2% on the year to 962.1 million denars in January-September, while operating revenue dropped 19% to 828.5 million denars, the company said in an interim financial statement filed with the Skopje bourse on Friday.
Domestic market sales totalled 513.5 million denars, down 20% on the year, whereas sales abroad fell by 19% to 297.3 million denars in the January-September period.
The company's shares have not traded on the Macedonian Stock Exchange (MSE) in the past year.
Elsewhere in Southeast Europe, DS Smith is present in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, Greece and Turkey.
