December 19 (SeeNews) - North Macedonia's road company said it chose Italian consultancy IRD Engineering to supervise construction works on the sections of pan-European Corridors VIII and X-d in the Western Balkan country, local media reported.
The Public Enterprise for State Roads (PESR) said it has received offers from three companies in its tender for the provision of supervision services and legal transaction advice, news outlet 24info reported last week.
Bidders included France's Ingerop Conseil et Ingenierie with an offer of 1.1 billion denars ($19.1 million/18 million euro), IRD Engineering with 1.4 billion denars and U.S. Hill International with the highest bid of 1.5 billion denars, according to the media report.
State-owned PESR said that the selection of the best bidder was based on the best-proposed quality and offered price.
PESR opened the tender on September 15. The deadline for submitting proposals expired on October 17.
Corridor VIII is an east-west route connecting Albania's Adriatic port of Durres to Bulgaria's Black Sea port of Varna via North Macedonia.
Corridor X is a pan-European corridor that runs from Salzburg, Austria to Thessaloniki, Greece. The corridor passes through Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, North Macedonia, and Greece. It has four branches - a, b, c, and d.
PESR is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the national and regional road network in North Macedonia.
