December 30 (SeeNews) - Montenegro's parliament approved the 2022 budget targeting a deficit of 275 million euro ($311 million), or 5.1% of the projected gross domestic product (GDP), up from the 205.1 million euro proposed in the draft budget, it said.
The budget for next year was approved on December 29 with 42 votes in favour and 29 votes against in the 81-seat parliament, a video file posted on parliament's YouTube channel on Wednesday showed.
Parliament allowed the government to borrow only 70 million euro, instead of the previously planned 500 million euro to cover the 2022 deficit.
Montenegro reported a budget deficit of 64.7 million euro in the first nine months of 2021, compared to a deficit of 332.9 million euro in the like period of 2020.
In 2020, the country's budget was in deficit of 459.1 billion dinars, compared to a surplus of 12.8 billion dinars in the previous year.
