September 11 (SeeNews) - Montenegro's consumer price index (CPI) rose by 2.8% year-on-year in August, after growing by 3.4% in July, the national statistical office said on Tuesday.
Consumer prices declined by 0.1% on the month in August after increasing by July 0.2% a month earlier, the statistical office said in a statement last week.
The biggest monthly rise in prices in August, of 1.2%, was recorded in the segment of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, followed by the miscellaneous goods and services, of 0.2%.
On the other hand, the costs of clothing and footwear declined by 2.5%, while transport prices fell by 0.4% month-on-month in August.
In 2017, Montenegro's CPI rose by 2.4% after falling by 0.2% in 2016.
