January 16 (SeeNews) - The share indices of the Montenegrin stock exchange rose in 2023, as turnover fell, bourse data indicated.
The blue-chip index of the Montenegro Stock Exchange, the MNSE10, ended last year at 1,063.32 points, up 5.36% compared to end-2022, the bourse said in a data release on Monday. The benchmark MONEX index, which tracks the 20 most representative shares on the exchange, jumped 10% year-on-year, closing 2023 at 15,583.13 points.
Total market capitalisation amounted to 2.523 billion euro at the end of December, down 29% compared to a year earlier.
In 2023, Crnogorski Telekom [MNG:TECG] generated the highest turnover among the blue-chip companies on the exchange. Almost 120 transactions with Crnogorski Telekom shares were concluded last year, generating a total turnover of 1.49 million euro.
The telco was closely followed by oil products distributor Jugopetrol [MNG:JGPK], which reached annual turnover of 1.43 million euro from a total of 208 transactions.
In terms of price change, sea transportation and fishing company Jadran Riba [MNG:JARI] was the biggest gainer in 2023, with its share price closing the year at 13.2 euro, up from 1.0 euro at the end of 2022. The biggest loser was Bijelo Polje-based Gradina-Kvarta [MNG:GRAD] which closed last year down 92% at a price of 0.01 euro.
The bourse's total turnover plunged 84% to 12.3 million euro ($13.5 million) last year, as the number of transactions fell 30% to 1,753.
