March 8 (SeeNews) - The Montenegrin government said it has received a positive evaluation from the European Union on its application for a 112.6 million euro ($122.7 million) grant through the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) for the reconstruction of a 39.6 km section of the Bar-Golubovci railway.
The section is part of the Bar-Boljare railway which links Montenegro's Adriatic coast with the country's border with Serbia in the north.
The EU gave its approval at a December meeting of WBIF's operational board, the Montenegrin government said in a statement on Thursday.
It added that the railway revamp project includes works on the Ratac landslide and tunnel Sozina.
Montenegro applied for the EU grant in September, saying the total cost of the Bar-Golubovci modernisation project is 246.5 million euro.
In February, local media reported that the revamp of the line is expected to start in 2025.
