September 8 (SeeNews) - Montenegro’s ministry of capital investments said on Friday that it has submitted an application to the European Commission for a grant of 112.6 million euro ($120.5 million) through the Western Balkans Investment Framework (WBIF) for the reconstruction of a 39.6 km section of the Bar-Golubovci railway.
If the funds are approved, it would be the single largest grant amount ever awarded to Montenegro, the ministry said in a statement.
The total value of the reconstruction project is 246.5 million euro, Montenegro’s government said earlier this week.
The WBIF is a regional facility supporting EU enlargement and socio-economic development in the Western Balkans.
Bar is a coastal town and seaport in southern Montenegro. Golubovci is a town located some twenty kilometres south of the capital Podgorica.
