September 29 (SeeNews) - The Romanian unit of French-Italian luxury clothing manufacturer Moncler said that it has expanded its factory in Romania’s eastern city of Bacau following a 10 million euro ($10.6 million) investment.
The expansion includes a new production facility and a kindergarten for employees’ children, Moncler Industries Yield said in a press release on Thursday.
The new production facility spans 8,000 sq m across two levels and comes as an addition to the 16,000 sq m factory that was opened roughly eight years ago. At full capacity, the production site will produce 30% of Moncler’s global outerwear production.
The new facility employs approximately 230 people, bringing Industries Yield Moncler’s headcount close to 1,800 employees. The Romanian unit aims to hire more than 200 people over the coming months.
The Bacau factory, which is Moncler’s only production site outside of Italy, mainly manufactures down jackets.
The Milan-headquartered clothing manufacturer entered the Romanian market in 2015, when it founded Industries Yield Moncler.
