CHISINAU (Moldova), September 8 (SeeNews) – Moldova has reported one more case of the A/H1N1 influenza virus, bringing to twelve the total number of infections in the country, the Health Ministry said on Tuesday.
A 19-year-old female, who arrived from Bulgaria on September 3, has tested positive for the virus, the ministry said in a statement.
The A/H1N1, popularly known as swine flu virus, is easily transmitted through coughing or sneezing. The infection, which can be deadly to humans, cannot be contracted through consumption of thermally processed pork meat. Its symptoms are similar to the symptoms of the common flu.
Moldova has reported no swine flu-related deaths so far.
