June 12 (SeeNews) - Bulgaria's defence ministry said on Tuesday that two people were killed and one injured when their Mi-17 military helicopter crashed during a training flight late on Monday.
The injured serviceman, a flight engineer, is in stable condition, the ministry said in a statement.
Defence minister Krasimir Karakachanov has ordered an investigation of the reasons for the crash which took place on Monday evening. The Soviet-built helicopter struck the ground near the Krumovo air base some 150 km southeast of Sofia after falling 30 metres from the sky.
In June last year, the commander of a Bulgarian Navy AS Panther-565 MB helicopter died in hospital after the aircraft plunged into the Black Sea during a tactical exercise.
