July 3 (SeeNews) - Canada-based automotive parts supplier Magna International will officially open its paint factory in Slovenia's northeastern Hoce–Slivnica municipality next week, news daily Dnevnik reported on Wednesday.
The paint shop currently employs 200 people and already started test production in March, with regular production expected to follow soon, Dnevnik reported.
The new production facility will first paint bodies of Jaguar E-Pace cars.
Magna started building the $100 million (88.6 million euro) paint shop in October 2017, saying back then that the project will complement production at Magna Steyr in Austria's Graz situated some 75 km from Hoce-Slivnica, which was overloaded.
Back in 2017, Magna also received government incentives worth 18.6 milion euro for the project. The Slovenian economy ministry has said that the investor had committed to create at least 1,000 jobs by October 30, 2022. In particular, Magna is expected to employ 400 people within the first phase of the project, to be completed by the end of October 2019.
Magna International runs some 340 manufacturing operations and 89 product development, engineering and sales centres in 28 countries. In Serbia, it operates Magna Seating, which makes seating systems for Renault, Ford and Smart.
