SKOPJE (Macedonia), March 2 (SeeNews) – Macedonian company Sardic MC, set up with Ukrainian-British capital, has signed a concession deal with the Macedonian government for copper, gold and silver exploration at the Kazandol site, an initial investment of 25 million euro ($28.1 million), the government in Skopje said.
According to the deal, Sardic MC will build a copper cathode plant with an annual capacity of 4,000 t, where it will create 250 new jobs, the Macedonian government said in a statement on Friday after the deal was signed by the company’s managers and economy minister Bekir Neziri.
Construction on the plant should start in May and production will be launched by the end of the year at the latest.
Total investments at Kazandol over a four-year period will amount to 250 million euro.
The company won a tender for detailed geological exploration works at Kazandol, Plavus and Petrosnica sites in January 2014.
Geological explorations are continuing at the two other sites where the construction of facilities for the production of final products is planned, said the statement.
Kazandol is located near the southeastern town of Valandovo.
