SKOPJE (Macedonia), October 9 (SeeNews) – Macedonian polyclinic Neuromedica plans to build a surgical hospital worth 7.0 million euro ($9.5 million) in Skopje’s downtown, local media reported on Wednesday.
The hospital will offer abdominal, plastic and thoracic surgery services and will also include an orthopedics department, daily Vecer (www.vecer.com.mk) said, quoting Neuromedica’s general director Emil Ugrinovski.
Macedonian construction companies will build the hospital. The contracts for its construction should be signed soon and the works should be completed within 15 to 18 months.
Neuromedica will finance the project with its own funds, with 4.0 million euro earmarked for medical equipment.
Some 131,000 patients were treated in Neuromedica in 2012 and their number is expected to rise by 5.0%-7.0% this year, Ugrinovski said.
Neuromedica is the first private polyclinic in Macedonia and has been operating for the past 22 years. It has grown into a regional health center, treating patients from Kosovo, Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece and Albania. It employs 100 in Macedonia and 15 in Neuromedica’s unit in Greece.
