September 17 (SeeNews) - The number of tourists staying in Macedonia in July rose by 11.4% on the year to 108,870, the Statistics Office said on Monday.
Overnight stays reached 672,362, up 8.0% from the same period of 2006, according to Statistics Office data.
Tourist numbers in July were 144.5% higher than in June. The number of Macedonians staying at Macedonian hotels in July rose by 267.2% from June and foreign visitors grew by 15.5%. Total overnights increased by 505.1% from the previous month.

Most foreign tourists who visited the landlocked country of two million people in July came from Serbia, Montenegro, Greece, Bulgaria and Croatia.
Popular Macedonian tourist sites include the lakeside towns of Struga and Ohrid, ski resort Popova Sapka, the Mavrovo national mountain park and the Polaki hunting site.
