October 25 (SeeNews) - Macedonia's gross electricity production ticked up 0.3% on the year to 371,083 MWh in August, the statistics office announced on Tuesday.
Net power output edged up 0.5% year-on-year to 344,580 MWh, while final electricity consumption dropped 6% to 468,581 MWh, the statistics office said in a monthly report.
Thermal power plants contributed the largest portion of gross domestic electricity output in August, 205,850 MWh, down 12.3% on the year. Hydropower plants followed with 104,074 MWh, up 5.4%.
Energy produced by solar power plants rose 3% to 2,704 MWh, while wind power plants generated 90.6% more energy than a year ago, reaching 10,061 MWh. Biogas plants produced 2,669 MWh, or 47.4% more than a year ago.
Macedonia's electricity production covered 67% of the country's needs in August, as the country imported 187,737 MWh and exported 5,296 MWh.
Distribution losses totalled 50,997 MWh, down 3.8% on the year.
