SKOPJE (Macedonia), June 4 (SeeNews) – Macedonian dairy company Makedonska Mlekara restarted production after its owner, Turkey's Sutas, invested 13 million euro ($16.9 million) in it, Macedonia's economic chamber said on Tuesday.
"As of today, Sutas milk and dairy products will be available in Macedonian supermarkets," the chamber quoted the general manager of Sutas's local unit, Ali Musfik Sozer, as saying.
The company plans to start selling its products in other countries in the region, Sozer also said.
Makedonska Mlekara has a production capacity of 70 million litres per year and expects to open 250 new jobs.
Sutas bought Balkanska Mlekara from bankrupt dairy Swedmilk in June 2012 and renamed it to Makedonska Mlekara.
In April the chamber said local meat processing company Pekabesko will provide distribution services to Balkanska Mlekara under a five-year deal.
