April 30 (SeeNews) - US security and aerospace company Lockheed Martin was awarded an $828.7 million (686 million euro) hybrid foreign military sales contract for Guided Multiple Launch Rocket Systems with Romania, Finland, and the Republic of Korea, the US Department of Defence said.
Works will be performed in Grand Prairie, Texas, and are estimated to be completed on May 31, 2020, the US Department of Defence said in a press release on Friday.
The contract is part of a $3.9 billion deal Romania signed with Lockheed-Martin and Raytheon Corporation for the sale of seven Patriot air defence systems in July.
Previously, Romania requested the possible sale of 28 launching stations, seven Patriot Configuration-3+ Modernized Fire Units consisting of seven radar sets, seven engagement control stations and 13 antenna mast groups. Also included were 56 Patriot Guidance Enhanced Missile-TBM missiles, 168 Patriot Advanced Capabilty-3 Missile Segment Enhancement missiles and seven Electrical Power Plants III.
Romania, which joined NATO in 2004, plans to spend 9.8 billion euro until 2026 to boost its defence capabilities.
