January 9 (SeeNews) - Supermarket chain Lidl Bulgaria, part of Germany's Schwarz Group, said on Tuesday that it plans to open two new stores in Ruse, taking the total number of stores in the northern Bulgarian city to five.
Lidl Bulgaria has invested close to 21 million levs ($11.7 million/10.7 million euro) in the existing three stores, the food retailer said in a press release, without specifying the size of the planned investment.
The company employed 102 staff at its Ruse stores in 2022, an 18% increase from the prior year, it also said.
Last month, Lidl Bulgaria opened two new stores in the town of Elin Pelin near Sofia and the northeastern city of Dobrich.
Having entered the Bulgarian market in 2010, Lidl now has 122 stores in 54 cities and towns in the country, employing over 4,000 staff.
