February 15 (SeeNews) - Kosovo's gross power production decreased to 5,906.1 GWh in 2017, from 6,483.4 GWh in the previous year, the national statistical agency said.
Thermal power plants produced 5,725.9 GWh of electricity, while hydro power plants generated 180.2 GWh, the statistical agency said in a statement late on Wednesday.
Kosovo imported 742 GWh of electricity in 2017, up from 458.8 GWh in the prior year, whereas its exports fell to 885.7 GWh from 1,064.2 GWh.
Coal output decreased to 7.57 million tonnes from 8.8 million tonnes in 2016.
In the fourth quarter alone, Kosovo's gross power production decreased to 1,162.5 GWh, from 1,339.8 GWh in the prior-year period.
Kosovo's power consumption in the October-December period increased 18.5% year-on-year to 1 094.0 GWh, with households having a share of 57.2% in total consumption.
