PRISTINA (Kosovo), June 28 (SeeNews) – The net profit of Kosovo's banking sector rose to 43.9 million euro ($52.3 million) in the five months through May, from 32.2 million euro in the same period of last year, the country's central bank said on Monday.
The outstanding loan portfolio of Kosovo's banks expanded 11% year-on-year to 3.4 billion euro at the end of May, the central bank said in a monthly report.
Deposits grew by 15% on the year, reaching 4.4 billion euro at the end of May.
The Kosovo banking system's assets totalled 5.48 billion euro at the end of May, compared with 4.75 billion euro a year earlier.
Return on assets rose to 2.3% in May 2021 from 1.9% in May 2020 and return on equity rose to 19.2% from 16.4%.
The figures comprise the financial results of 11 banks. Raiffeisen Bank Kosovo and ProCredit Bank are the largest among them in terms of assets.
