January 16 (SeeNews) - Hungarian investment group Meszaros has confirmed it has assumed the management of Hotel Miramar in Opatija, on the northern Croatian Adriatic coast, after buying it from Austrian hotel owner Wilfried Holleis.
"The acquisition of the four-star Hotel Miramar Superior Resort&Spa owned by Meszaros Group was completed one and a half years ago in accordance with the legal requirements, however, from now on, the company group also performs the operational tasks," Meszaros said in an emailed statement to SeeNews on Monday. Thus, it confirmed recent Croatian media reports that the new owner will manage the hotel independently.
The financial details of the transaction are a trade secret, the company said, adding that it plans to modernise the hotel as much as possible.
"Meszaros Group continues to aim for further international expansion in all sectors," it added without elaborating.
Hotel Miramar generated revenue of 34.2 million euro ($37.3 million) in 2022, up from 8.1 million euro in 2021, according to data by consultancy Finance Analytics - Dun & Bradstreet. It reported a net profit of 21.7 million euro in 2022, when it had 92 employees.
